Jaime Ongpin’s short story/biography. He was one of the leading figures of the movement that ousted the dictator, Ferdinand Marcos, culminating in the People Power Revolution of 1986, hailed by the world for its peacefulness.
When Corazon C. Aquino was then installed as President of the Philippines, he served as Finance Minister of the new democratic government.
He was active in community service, sometimes going to depressed areas like Leveriza in Manila, to see for himself how he could help the poor earn their livelihood. The arts and culture were other interests of his and he headed organizations supporting these.
