Born GONXHA AGNES BOJAXHIU in Yugoslavia, a nun who devoted her life serving the poor and dying in India and the world.

MOTHER TERESA received the 1962 Ramon Magsaysay Award for Peace and International Understanding. The Board of Trustees recognizes her merciful cognizance of the abject poor of a foreign land, in whose service she has led a new congregation.
